We woke up around 6 with the goal of meeting our guide and catching the bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu for 7am. We had tickets for the secondary hike Wayna Picchu at 10 am and wanted to make sure we had Hendrik’s guided tour before he had to leave. As usual Hendrik delivered, providing us history/insight and including a few of his own interpretations.

The Incas used some big stones. Mel pointing out just how big, while Henrik explained something else important 🙂

Most guides will tell you that these were used to view the stars. They fail to take into account the roof that use to be above them. Our guide Hendrik thinks they were just used for cooking.
The Wayna Picchu hike exhausted us so after descending we headed back Aguas Calientes for some food and beer. That night we took a train ride and a sketchy mini-bus ride back to Cuzco where we had to say bye to Ann and Joel. A few days of recovering and we are off to Puno and Lake Titicaca!
